6.0 Filter Mod

Here are some pictures of my coolant and engine oil by-pass filters. It took a little messin around to get everything to fit, but I am very happy with the outcome!

Pretty clean looking installation, have to say this is the first time I've seen a Coolant filter. What prompted you to do that mod?

Very nice job with the upgrades. Super clean.

BTW, coolant filter is pretty much (or should be) the first mod any 6.0L owner bolts in. Well spent money for the insurance it offers. It's fairly well known that casting sand is left behind on many of these motors and that can lead to plugged egr and oil coolers.

Thanx everyone! This actually was alot more difficult than it looks. The filters are big for that area and are very close to the parts around them. My first oil bypass had the same rubber lines as the coolant. that kept me awake at night. I have a remote start that I use alot and was afraid of the rubber bursting, leaking or wearing thru. That's when the stainless braid came in. The kits look OK, but I wanted the gauge and wanted both filters on the same bracket. The bracket and filter caps are NUC items. The coolant filter base, valves, and Baldwin filter came from Dieselste. The lines came from PACA. The gauges are both 0-100 PSI and came from the local speed shop.
When I first bought my truck with over 200K the first thing I did was the coolant filter. After 3-4 months the truck went in for studs and such. I asked that they flush the system with VC-9 and after change out the filter. 1 month later I cut open the first filter to find this:

As far as I understand this is casting sand and/or silica that dropped out of the original Gold coolant. First thing in the spring will be another flush. This time with Restore and a filter change. If you have a 6.0 you might want to install a coolant filter....lol

Looks good there bud and yes he is right when he says a coolant filter is a must on these, there is some pretty ugly shit floating around in these engines. Good job.
