finally .. I think I got it figured out

I've had the lower front fasia , airdam , plastic section for an 03 harley truck sitting here in my living room since I bought it almost 2 years ago (aug)

I've been stumped for a while trying to find / figure out the bracket or support that I've thought I needed to attach the center of this piece to the bumper or frame

I ripped the orig base 2wd truck piece off last winter on the frozen ridge of slush the plow left at the end of the driveway last back in january so this piece really needs to go on

I've been looking at the splash shield that's been hanging from the rad cradle ever since - thinkin if it were rigid it would look like it would fit

well today I stumbled over an aftermarket splash shield on e bay so I bought it
hopefully this works - and it's rigid plastic not the flappy thing ford put there

but I can't help but think there should be something more there to support the front fasica in the center

any of you guys have a h-d truck around this age ? am I finally on the right track?

lol you don't wanna know what ford charges for the 03 h-d fasica and lower grille - it aint 85 bucks

a metal support in the middle ?
I don't have anything like that

I was thinking all this time there should be something there

what I have is the fasia , and the lower grille

joining the bottom of the fasia and grille are 3 plastic posts with a bolt and thread clip at the top and bottom

these 3 posts come up just below the lower grille opening but are no way near tall enough to reach the bumper

spaceing of the posts matched the 3 holes that mount the front edge of the splash shield

I have pics - I'll see if I can find em

pics - seemed easier to just make an album of it

http://www.fordtough.ca/forums/album.php?albumid=889

if I'm still missing a piece I need a part number
I've already had the parts guy at the dealer invest about an hour of his time in this

part of the problem is after I bought the fasia , the ford computer seems to have had the page related to this deleated - I got lucky when I went back for the lower grille - he found it in a list of grille part numbers but the diagram showing everything was gone

i imagine i have a different bracket cuase it holds the intercooler .there are 8 bolts/2 brackets the 4 zip ties is where the inside bolts go, and you can see the outside of the bracket where the other 4 bolts go.

looking at your pics. it seems you just take out the supplied mounting bolts that are lining the top. and there should be holes in the metal bumper that line up with where the bolt holes are.

i finally figured out you were talking about the grill. it definitly screws on the bottom of the fascia at the 3 posts. the top i think just gets the rubber flap attached to it.
and the valence is only held on at the top with the bolts you bought.

and you definitely posted in the wrong spot on lightning rodder. should have at least put it in the harley section.
