2008 King Ranch Towing Question - FordTough.ca

I was looking at my towing capablities (I want to buy a fifth wheel) it seems that my truck can only tow 9,440 lbs I've taken the curb weight and minus the GVWR. It is a 2008 F250 King Ranch Super Duty! This seems to be a very low towing capacity as most 5th wheels easily exceed that weigh. Am I missing something? I figured that I would have, with in reason, a wide range of choices.

I know that tow behinds weigh less but I had my heart set on a 5th wheel. Can anyone clarify?

That would be truck payload carrying capacity. Your towing capacity should be around the 18,000 lbs. mark. I'm not familiar with the specs of your particular truck. Basically make sure the fifth wheel pin weight is no more that 9000 lbs. There are far more complex calculations involved in order to not overload the truck and stay within the legal limits of licensing. Which should be checked for each province, state and country you plan on driving in. The last thing you want is to have to leave your trailer somewhere unknown because some MOT or DOT has a thing for nailing Canadian drivers for over-weight combination.
