its always possible if you know what your doing, if not then I would say just replace with the same motor. like shelbyx1 said, pop the hood off and lift er straight out!

Now this is funny. I've been looking for these exact same questions for weeks (I didn't want to bother you about questions that has been answered before).

Now that I'm ready to go, gilligan come up with it. Thanks a lot.

Of course it's always possible. Years ago, we've put a 350 sb chev in a 84 Chevette. But my question is, do we need the other truck to do the swap? You see, its hard to find a good 4.6L. Unless newer would fit too.

Over here, some says '' You just have to change the chip, it's a plug in and go'' while others says '' you'll have to change the harness, the computer, a lot of sensors...'' ''transmission won't fit''.

Well, what is the truth in all that.

Damn, I missed those years where you could put anything in everything...

Put a 4.9L I-6 in it. You'll be the envy of everyone. Just think of being able to show off that big long crankshaft and no timing chain to worry about. Then supercharge it.

Swapping a 4.6 for a 5.4 can be done but is it really worth all the work for like 30hp? Ideally having a whole 5.4 truck to donate to the 4.6 truck would make it easiest. To make it work you need more than the engine itself.

i have decided to use the truck that had the 4.6 to fix up my other truck so this old 1998 ford will be retired pretty soon to the scrap yard i have taken alot of parts old that i could save so my old 1997 will remain on the road foe another year or mayby 2
it all depends on how the truck will do i took all doors fenders and hood and the box will be going on my truck it will be from white truck to dark green and tan in the bottom
