Why am I slowing down?

Yeterday my cruise control stopped cruising...While I'm on the highway!!! What would make it do that? How can I fix it without shoveling out tons of money to the dealer's? Is there a PM I should be doing?

You have a 97-03 F150? Check and see if the cruise control recall has been performed on it and go from there.

Hey! Thanks about the re-call. I'm gonna call them to-morrow,may get lucky and have it fixed for the long weekend. As for the vacum leak I guess a lttle dish soap and my granddaughter's bike pump will check it out ...Will post how it goes either way. Ogre

Welllll it didn't rain on my long weekend..It poured!!!! Went to the dealers and asked about the recall, got some cock-a-meme story that my truck wasn't on the list, but they did notice a gas leak, and the tank strap at the rear was broken ,and ,it's ONLY a $ 986.76 bill before taxes! So I told 'em thanks anyway but if I get 2 pension checks in 1 month I'll be right in to fix that ! Now here's the rub...Our local parts store orders me the straps ,tank (original equipment)and clip ring to re-install the sending unit for $ 188.! Do you think that the dealer's a little over priced for a twelve year old truck? Will let you know how (or what not ) to do a remove /replace a gas tank on a F150.Ogre

tank swap...DIY can be PIA

The two hour swap at the dealers took me four days in the driveway. Most of the time was spent on fabricating "special " tools to take gas lines off.(The package at CTC doesn't come with the 7/16) .Nowhere in the Lincoln area do they sell 10MM threaded rod ,or straps that fit. Red necked the components that cost an arm and a leg at the dealers and I'm back on the road for a third of what it would of cost to have it done. You ever get in a bind doing a job like that give me a post and I'll give you all the little details.Ogre

With Father's Day coming up ,I'm leaving a hint ( 3 ft. square of cardboard with a note"fix my truck" taped to the front of our TV) for someone to give me a hand to look for a vacume leak.
