fog lights

hello i just installed fog ligtghs in my bumber of my truck and the lights stay on all the time even with key out of ignition and head lights swtich off would i need to replace my head light swtich????

Wire it to the oppisite side of the ignition. Turn your key on, Check for a hot wire, turn your key off , check again, The wire should not be hot. Then it will only work with the key on.

Sounds like you tapped into a source that's hot all the time.

I'd say you need to find something either keyed to the ignition (as Gerry has suggested) , or install a manual switch between the existing power source and the lights.

If your truck didn't come with fog lights then you need to either modify your headlight switch or get one already configured for fog lights. I've seen some writeups on this and iirc the way some guys got it to work with the existing headlight switch was they had to take it apart and remove a plastic tab or something like that, its the tab that prevents the fogs from working properly with the existing switch. I'll check some other forums for the writeup.

Do like some guys do and run new wires to the fogs to a new switch you can turn on/off when needed. Just my 2 cents
