Exclamation 2003 Super Crew 4x2, 5.4L ....

Folks...test drove a 03 super crew, has 330k Kms, kn intake, was quite responsive and smooth. Rear shocks are shot. While driving I feel some knurling or grinding (Donna what to call it)feel on my foot while pressing gas pedal.. Is it normal? Otherwise truck seem to be ok, door bottom has been worked upon. Thanks

my 01 had that grind-ie feeling in the gas peddel too

I forgot all about it - though I have no idea what made it stop doing that

a year and a bit back , I had a coil replaced - the mechanic came out to the waiting area to try to sell me the "fuel injection service" 'cause "ford recomends it now"

(thought to myself ah-ha , this is why my father was paying over 4 hun everytime he got a coil replaced)

possiable the mechanic lubed the cables or throttle body ??

from new this 01 has had a hunger for coils - the coil on plug type , my 95 mercurey with a 4.6 and coil packs never needed more than a battery & alternator

5.4 2 valve motors have a habbit of blowing out spark plugs ... spark plugs in 3 valve motors break when trying to remove them

so , this in mind ^ , instead of trying to beat the price down if you want that truck - I'd ask for a brand new set of coils and a set of installed spark plugs

spark plug thread fix was 3 hun , + 5 hun to install 7 other plugs ..... and whatever coils are worth ...

I'm far from impressed with this ... so much so that I'd say if the seller is a dealer and won't change out the plugs and coils , walk away , and don't go back 'cause somebody's gonna have to replace them and it's much better if it's not you , doing them 1 at a time as they fail

thinking now , if I were doing that ^ I'd take the truck for 1 more test drive - just so I could go and mark a couple of the coils - towards the back of the motor
that way I can tell at a glance if they changed them ...before I pay for it

just keep an eye on the plugs and tighten if needed if now and then. and you can hear a ticking for a little bit before the blowout. but i wouldnt worry about it. the amount of plug blow outs is small. the lightning guys every now and they have one. and we are pushing the motors a hell of a lot harder then you n/a guys.

Have bought the same one...it was a priv.buy ..cleaned the KN filter reoiled & the grind feeling at gas pedal is gone...so guess it was due to clogged intake..other thing I did was added sea foam to the full tank..that hopefully will clean the fuel injectors. Which one is the vacuum line on the intake. Would like to run some seafoam there too. Enjoying the rig so far. Am lookin for some used good rear shocks too.

Hey " luvf150 " try hitting up blackstock ford for your rear shocks, as they keep all the parts from trucks when they lift or lower them, not sure if you posted any pics of your truck but please do so when you have time.
