Thumbs down Fix it questions!

I have two questions:
1) The power lock on my 2003 F150XLT passenger side does not work properly. It only starts to move, but doesn't completely unlock when I use either my fob or the switch inside. Do I need to take the panel off of the door to fix it or is there a better way?
2) The compase and thermometer in the over head console do not work anymore. During the winter it faded off & on, but now it just doesn't come on at all. I need ideas on where to start to figure out how to fix it.

Thanks in advance for ANY help anyone can provide!

Start checking ground connections. Usually by front door posts and points along the bottom of the dash.

Ford factory incentives these days are up to $14000 off MSRP.

Start checking dealer lots.

I'll do that when GM starts making quality products. Or pigs fly, which ever comes first.

Actually, my suggestion was directed at the OP, but since you offered a comment...what's the problem with Ford offering up to $14,000 off MSRP ?

Throw in a decent trade in and you're in a brand new truck for next to nothing.

Ford, Dodge or GM don't make the truck I want anymore.

It's the Pontiac Aztec of pickup trucks.
