1999 XL 4.2 litre battery light on
Hi All, I bought my 1999 4.2 litre last fall and parked it in my garage over winter. Previous inspection showed the battery hold down bolt was seized. The weather warmed up and I tackled the bolt. Had to disconnect the battery to drill it out. To prevent loss of radio presets, etc., I used an obd2 memory saver from Can. Tire, connected to a 12 volt power pack. Did not lose any memory, but after I re-connected the battery, my battery light stays on. Light was not on last fall when I parked the truck, and I did not start the truck all winter. I haven't yet checked the fuse #11 (alternator field) but will shortly. Is it possible the memory saver power in conjunction with the 12 volts from the battery before I disconnected it could have caused damage? The battery and alternator both look quite new; the alternator is a Bosch (so obviously not the original) and the battery is Interstate. Any thoughts? Thanks.
