?? mixing cabs boxes and frames ??

so , lol "quick question"..

looking at the 97-03 trucks (f150) with their two piece frames , different cabs and boxes I'm wondering if :

a quad cab will fit on a super cab long box frame with a 6 1/2 foot box ? - I know the bottom edge of the sheetmetal is different at the front of the box

or could I put the back frame half of the long box super cab on the front half of the quad cab's frame , then drop
a 6 1/2 foot box on that ?

my super cab truck is about pooched due to rust and I'm thinking of getting a quad cab .. but I hate that little goofie 5 foot box so much I'd rather not bother if I can't have the 6 1/2 foot box

There are very few people left in this day and age that would even consider that kind of project, in this country anyway. You may want to consider getting a quad cab and extend the frame and drive shaft the required amount. We have a 2004 f150 Super Cab with 4 doors and a 6 foot box at work, so they made them in that configuration if that helps any.

lol thanks

after drilling out the rivets to put the drop kit spring mounts in it dosen't seem quite as much of a chore

and yeah , the idea of extending a quad cab is more in line with what I want to do as it saves ripping an entire truck apart to swap cabs..

I've heard there were quad cabs with the 6 1/2 foot box but I've never seen one so the chances of finding it when I need it are probably slim

I'm presuming the front half of the frame is common to all cab styles (?) and isn't somehow longer under the quad cab

From 01-03 the only configuration of a Supercrew was the short box.

Starting in 04 they made Supercrews with 6.5ft boxes and still do today.

lol
I can understand why - my 6 1/2 foot box is kinds useless but the 5 foot box might as well be a trunk

I think the back end of my father's 71 fury might have been bigger ..
