Transmission buzz at 2500 RMP

Hi - I'm new to this site.

I have a 2001 F150, 5.4 lt, Screw Lariot, 4x4, 197,000 km

I'm hearing a little buzz from what I think is the transmission area.
It doesn't do it in neutral.
It only happens at a specific RPM (2500 ish) when driving.

Anybody have any thoughts?

Thank you

Tom!

unfortunately, the internet is no place for diagnosing noises.

it doesn't seem to matter what gear it's in. Or 4x4 high or low - it does the same thing.

I lifted the back end tonight and ran it in the driveway.

No sounds?

It seems that it has to be under a load to do it.

Doesn't seem to be any vibration. Just a quick buzz sound as you past through the 2500 range.

I had a guy from a Tranny shop drive it yesterday and he doesn't think it's tranny or pump. He figures something is loose and resonating at that RPM. I'm going to try and get it in to him to look at on the hoist and nail down the origin of the sound.

do you have a cold air intake on it?after putting one on my truck it does the same thing, and it gets worse on higher tune settings,it seems to be intake resonance.

I'm hoping it an exhaust thing. I had a tranny shop guy take it out and he doesn't think it's tranny related.

I don't have a cold air intake, but I did do the "Gotts Mod" to the intake a while back - this noise is newer than that though.

thx for your input

I had something similar, a pipe rattling sound when under load around 1200 RPM..turns out one of the clamps on the inlet pipe before my muffler broke so the pipe would rattle, had it welded up for $20, prob solved.

Whaddya mean I dont pay my bills?? Whydya think I'm broke!!
