Anything can be done with the right amount of time, money and patience. However a 27 foot trailer weighs a good bit? Buying a new truck would be A LOT less headache IMHO

VMP and 5-Star tuned no more

Buy a hybrid my truck needs your gas

If I where you I'd do some shopping around for a v8 truck, as to swap in a v8 to the 4.2 your gonna need alot of time, as all the wiring will be different and the computer, good luck

in the long run it would probly be cheaper to put in an older 302 carbed...

either that or find a wrecked 2000-2003 truck with the v8 so you have all the parts you need for the swap

copart.com has a few trucks

2007 F350 6.0L Ext cab short box 4x4
2000 F150 5.4L Reg cab short box 2wd
?? always looking for a new ford project !

It can be done, but it ain't easy, aside from the v8 motor, you'll at least need the computer, main harness from the donor truck. You'll need to use the bell housing from the v6 for the tranny though, the bell housing on the v8 has a different bolt pattern.

If you aren't pulling that far, it might make more sense to put in 3.73 or 4.10 gears and some type of LS diff and an aftermarket tranny cooler, prolly cheaper and easier.

you'll also need the Power Distribution box from a V8 truck cause yours is only wired to run 6 injectors. Otherwise you'll have to do what I did and wire 2 injectors directly into the V8 computer
