No more dark night!!

This is a mod I did up last week after work in the shop with the help of a co-worker.

List of items to do this:
2x 12" LED white strips.
1x pin switch and right angle bracket
1x 12v relay
20-25ft of black 16Ga automotive wire
20-25ft of red or white 16Ga automotive wire
couple ring terminals
couple female push on terminals
couple self taping screws
1x 16Ga fuse holder
1x 5amp fuse
black tape and solder

I also put black automotive gloom on all of the wiring to clean it up and protect it.

I mounted the pin switch on the back right corner of the box. It gets pressed on by the top right inside of the tailgate.
The pin switch feeds ground to the relay mounted up front by the battery.
Which send power back to the lights.

Pretty simple operation and now i don't need to worry about pulling out my phone to light up the box to see/find something. The back cab light doesn't do anything when the tonneau cover is in place. Actually makes it worse it's blinding you when your trying to see in the darkness..

Here is the end result!!

Nicely done.

If Princess Auto were a real girl, I'd ask her to marry me.

Never fails to amaze me how guys come up with such inventive and clever ideas, and this one certainly is that. Cool project Travis, and well done. Looks like a good one to add to the list !!!

Great mod Travis!
One can only hope the someone at Ford will see this, and it will become an option on the new trucks to come.

I have the same issue as you (had) with my hard top retracting tonno cover blocking the loading light when closed.

Good Stinkin'!

Press on regardless!

Stupid question, but I'm guessing you just hit the local auto supply store with your shopping list ?

You could yes.

The only thing i had to go shopping for was the lights. Picked them up from walmart for like $30 bucks. Had the rest laying around..
