Well I had the " check rear park aid" in the display, so took it to the dealership ( In woodstock)and had an interesting chat with the service manager. Turns out 2 sensors were gone, at 249 a peice, covered under tricar extended warranty. He asks me so who is theodore salhani ? i'm like huh? he shows me the original warranty and service plan from ford (ESP) and turns out the original purchaser bought the ford extended warranty till 2015. He then goes on to tell me that this warranty could have just been transfered to me for a couple hundred bucks when i bought the truck. So my 3000$ warranty sold to me by highbury ford was a complete and total waste. Not fuckin happy considering this dealership has been nothin but a pain in the ass since I bought this truck. Going to give the service manager a call at highbury and see what happens. I feel like I've been ripped off knowing that the sales guy gets paid commission on extra warranty. I can imagine that I'm going to have quite the uphill battle getting my money back, or atleast part, so wish me luck!!! LOL
Sorry to hear it....not trying to be overly negative, but I don't see much luck in getting anything from the dealer that sold you the Extended Warranty.
Yet another reason why I don't bother with those scams.
Benefit of the doubt though....is it possible the dealer that sold you the Extended Warranty was unaware of the existing one?
Do yourself a favour and approach the Dealer in a calm, non-confrontational manner.
Maybe ask them, hey, if I sell my truck will I be able to transfer my Extended Warranty to the new owner, and how would I go about it?
(Some sort of paperwork backing up the claim that the original owner bought the ESP might help, otherwise it's your word against thiers)
Suck them in, make them answer the question, and then maybe ask them why they never gave you the option to transfer and hosed you for $3 G's instead.
LOL..just talked to 4 different people at the dealership..that was a waste of 20 minutres..lol
The say they have never transferred the ford warranty because they try and deal with tricare..I can see who they make more money from..lol
Now to go one step up the ladder..
So from what i've found online I can cancel my tricare warranty (damn near impossible to find online) and any claims I've had will come out of the original purchase price of the warranty. Ford canada shuts it doors for the weekend but from the customer service person at the ESP place transferring a warranty is very simple. just pay the 100$ fee and done, no need to consult with the original buyer of the vehicle. will know more on monday.
