K&N CAI

Have been debating getting one of these for my 09 F150 FX4 for some time now, read so many reviews on-line saying how the new F150 intake already works as a CAI..so a new one is not needed. So a member on here ( Thanks Travis) put one up for sale at a price I couldn't pass up, so I figured if it made a difference great, if not, so be it, atleast i know. well I'll tell all the haters out there that it works. No question it works. Wow!! ( Not new to CAI's, have had one on every car I've owned and still own) I can't beleive how restrictive the stock air intake is, On startup i noticed a difference, and pulls through the gears much faster, even the exhaust sounds much deeper!! And the good ole' butt dyno don't lie..lol so I guess what I'm trying to say is that it does make a difference, despite what you may read saying otherwise.

Varies by vehicle IMO.

I had a K&N on my Ranger. Didn't notice my difference. Got rid of it later. Wasn't worth the $$$ IMO.

Update: Filter only.

Are you referring to just the filter or the whole CAI?

Good stuff Tony!

glad you like it!

Now if you don't mind go thru all my posts and quote +1 confirming what I've been saying.. lol

anyways. if you can stay out of the pedal now.. you might pick up some mpg.. I noticed it on the highway, (hills at putnam) the truck wouldn't always downshift to get up the hill. just a little more bottom end growling and away she went!

Hope you got a tuner. Your Air/Fuel ratio will need to be adjusted.

Jim I did not get a tuner after installing a cai on my truck . Would it make a lot of
difference in performance and milage . Can Air/Fuel ratio be ajusted without a tune ?

As far as i know, the truck's computer already "learns" and compensates for the extra air. Worked this way on my 98 GTP and my 05 mazda 3., And thanks again travis, When I get my exhaust done then a tune will be on the horizon.

I wouldn't worry about getting a tune for the c.a.i I put the K&N on my 2010 and have been running it for over 6 months and my truck runs prefectly fine, once you do your exhaust then maybe look into a programmer and get a custom tune for the K&N.

I have changed my exhaust so is a tune something I sould have done to help the performance?

If you just have the exhaust than no, as I said above I'm running a K&N c.a.i plus I have a MBRP sidso cat back and I haven't got a custom tune for my truck, but then again I'm a cheap redneck with no credit card. It's all in what you think is best don't always go by what everyone says on forums.
