Looking at 2012

I've been looking at the new eco-boost V-6 in the 150 and googled any problems and it seems they do have problems with the motor, just wondering if ford has fixed these motors or still trying. We went and test drove one yesterday and the wife loved it compared to our GM p/u. Also lots of people have said eco-boost don't like city driving.

You say the Ecoboost has problems? What kind of problems? I haven't heard of anything super serious. Some people haven't been getting great fuel economy out of them but thats few and far between.

I would take what you read on forums with a grain of salt. The percentage of vehicle owners who come onto a forum is very small. There was a few owners there that had some complaints. Some of there complaints were nothing at all. I mean ' the truck moves at idle, when I'm off the throttle' , 'when the truck is cold it idles high'. Those are 2 things that are NORMAL for any vehicle

VMP and 5-Star tuned no more

x2

My truck will roll along at 20km/h with no pressure on the throttle if you let it go long enough.

As well I believe Ford has issued a tranny re-flash for the hard shifting issue. I believe most of the issues surround early 2011 trucks.

X3 Look hard enough and you'll always find someone who isn't happy , no matter if you're talking Ecoboost or the colour of the sky.

Some people just like to bitch bitch bitch.

I always figure if you got problems, that's why you've got a 3 year/60000 km warranty and/or TSB's/recalls.

Smart to do some research though, but definitely take it with a grain of salt. I've heard nothing but good about the Ecoboost.

I have had my Ecoboost for almost 8 months now and 16,000kms, and I have ZERO issues to report with it. I would not hestitate to recommend that engine to anyone. The truck is not 100% perfect, but darn close. I was a Chevy guy all my life and I would not hesitate to buy another Ford now based on my experience with the F150 Ecoboost...honest to God truth.

My problem is my GM has had a lot of problems in the last year I have owned it. I don't want to start over with problems with a new truck. My biggest complaint with the GM is how much road noise it has and the ford was so quite. Hopefully my truck is still worth good money to trade in.

When looking at the problems you have to think about how many trucks there was sold and don't have problems.

My Silverado went for years without issue, and then a whole bunch of things seem to come up at once. This is normal no matter what you buy. If you are buying new, you may encounter a couple small little annoying things, but that's what the warranty is for. I have a high level of confidence that my F150 with be without any issues for quite some time.
