Bigger tires

Hey guys,

I am new to the forum here and have been doing a bit of searching on here and the other F150 forums about bigger tires. What I want to know is, what is all involved in putting bigger tires on the factory rims? I have a 4x2 XLT that will be levelled soon. I am looking at putting on a set of BFG All-Terrain T/A KO tires (305/65/18) which I think is a 33" tire. I know the speedo will be a bit off with that tire. Can I get that fixed at the dealership or do I need a programmer to do that?

Also will there be any rubbing issues or any other problems I haven't read about yet?

Thanks for any input
Brent

The dealer should be able to correct your speedo for you. Being a 4x2 even with a leveling kit those tires will be cutting it fairly close. The width of the tire/offset of the stock rims is really more the issue than the height of the tire.

Your local dealership can correct the speedo for you, whats the stock tire size you have now ? You might want to do your level kit first before putting your new tires on as you may get rubbing at full turn to the bum stop

Yes the leveling kit would be going on first. The stock tire size is a 265/60/18, as for the offset of the rim I don't know that. I want something bigger as in taller and a bit wider but that's an all terrain and will be an all season as well. What would be a good size to go with then? I don't want to have to deal with any rubbing issues.

don't go any larger then a 33" if your only doing a level kit.
the larger the first number the wider the tire. also the wider the rim you will need.

the 265 or 305 (first number is the width of the tread in millimeters. the second number is the % of the first number in sidewall height.

Might have more options with a 305x60/18 then just the BFG A/T
roughly 32.5" tall x 12" wide. not quite a 33x12.5" <-more options in M/T tho.

A 305 65 18 is almost a 34" tire, and is almost 10% bigger than your stock size. I would personally go with a 285 65 18 which is almost a 33" tire, and is 6.5% bigger than stock. Just MHO
