door sills

So prolly the only issue I have with this truck is the poor design of the door sills. Don't like how you can take them off and seee the ground, or how they are basically dirt cathes...anyway was steam cleaning the inside of the truck today, took the door sills off and rust..every hole where the little yellow plugs go had rust around it, poor design, apparently. Anyway just a heads up for anyone who plans on keeping there truck for any period of time, might wanna get a can of rust check ( wich every canadian vehicle owner should already have..lol) and give a shot under there. Pics would help a bunch.

I've got an idea about you're talking about, but in cases like this, a picture really is worth a thousand words.

Same deal for the guy that was crying about the supposed design flaw on his truck that caused it to rust through on the box panel.

I'm not sure what you mean when you say you can take the door sills off and see the ground.

If you pull your sill covers off, there are plastic nubs that protrude from the bottom of them, that insert into rubber plugs that inturn go into holes that are in the metal, don't have pics as I'm not to keen on pulling them off again till I get replacements, as I just about split the front passenger side in half when removing them...lol

I was curious enough to go take a look. Here's the door sills in question :

Creep underneath the truck on your back, look up and you can see where the plastic nubs go through the sheet metal... (picture=1000 words lol)

No signs of rust on mine, but it's had annual soakings of Rust Check since new.

I also learned the Raptor's new driveshaft (post-clunk TSB) is a fairly beefy aluminum deal. Nice.

Couldn't hurt to take the previously mentioned can of Rust Check, attach the spray tube and shoot some under those sill covers.

For all the time it takes.....
