Raptor out, FX4 in

Employee pricing and trade in value was too good to pass up, traded in the Raptor a couple of weeks ago and ordered up a '13 FX4 Supercrew.

Shitty driveway pic....

Essentials - 402A, moonroof, 5.0, 3.73, wheel well liners, step tailgate, upgraded tires, Nav. 6.5' box, spray in liner etc.

First mod before it even left the lot......swap out those hideous orange mirror reflector panels for a plain panel off the Raptor.

Speaking of Raptor parts, swapped out the stock step bars for some Raptor step bars, available from Ford Accessories, and bolt right into the factory location.

Incidentally, I kept the black Raptor wheels as well, they're mounted up with the Raptor's snow tires, which will also work perfectly on the new truck.

The sizing on the snows were a little small for the Raptor, but are bang on size wise for the new application.

Also swapped out the 4 foot stock antennae for a 13 inch shorty I scooped on E-bay for $25....my last four vehicles have had this mod.

Removed the FX4 decals.

Next upgrade will be dropping the crappy factory lugs with the chrome covers for a set of solid, satin black lugs.

Tinted the drivers/passengers side windows to match the back.

Raptor lasted less than a week on the dealers lot, apparently got picked up by Ridgehill Ford in Cambridge for one of their customers.

Thought about the 6.2, but after driving the 5.0, the extra $2500 didn't seem worth it for 50 horsepower. In the Raptor...yes. In the FX4...not this time.

First two coats of wax are already in the books....

Not a fan of the cheap looking plastic finish surrounding the screen in the centre console, but other than that, it's not too bad.

I supect the Raptor was just too hard on fuel and not practicle for you? I love the look of them and often think to myself of the ones driving around Caglary "they have never left the pavement".

Truck looks good.

Nah, I never, ever bitched about fuel mileage with the Raptor, and ran premium because it was less than $10 a tank difference, and the truck ran better.

If I had looked ahead and ordered a Supercrew Raptor instead of the super cab, I would probably still be driving it.

Yes, it was one of the ones that never left the pavement, but if you're making the payments, you can drive it into the lake for all I care. ha ha ha

Thanks, this is my third FX4 actually, next to the Raptor, it's my preferred trim level.

Much like any mod, Raptor step bar pricing is pretty subjective, and depends on whether or not you figure it's worth the money.

Insanity is all a matter of perception.
