Do I NEED to level?

Looking to get into some 20x9 wheels to replace my stock rims (20x8.5) for summer, do I NEED to level? Trying not to break the bank as I want to keep the stock rims and winters for just that- winter only.
Thanks!

Hey, welcome to fordtough.ca, greatest Canadian F150 site on the planet.

Levelling is up to you, not sure what your goal is with the question to "need" to level.

Are you putting on bigger tires and worried about clearance, or doing it for looks ?

More info would help.

Good point, not changing anything but I was told I needed to level to avoid tire rub, which got me confused because I am not changing tire size (275/65R20). The only reason I am getting new rims in 20x9 is that there's really not much out there for 8.5... And I want to go to a summer set and a winter set so I need another set of rims so I am not constantly swapping tires off the same set.
Thanks again!

stock 20s are 275/55/20?
not sure if the extra height of the 275/65/20 makes a difference or not with the wider rim.

65 series would be a taller tire in a 275, that's for sure.

I was going to say, an extra half inch on the wheel width ( 8.5" vs 9.0" ) is pretty conservative, and if the tire width/height ratio remained the same, not much would change .

As a side note, good call on running a separate set of wheels and tires for winter, you'll recover the cost of your wheels in no time, and winter tires work wonders IMO.

Not having to pay twice a year to have them dismounted, mounted and re-balanced, not to mention time saved waiting for the swap to be completed, and wear and tear on the wheels.

Sorry stock is 275/55 but I have run the 65 before (BFG AT TA doesn't come in 55)... Was not even close to an issue on the 8.5

I have 275/65R20 Toyo ATII on my F150 and needed to level to avoid rubbing. Only rubbed at full turn, but pulling in/out of parking stalls drove me nuts. If you are staying 275/55R20 (stock size) you should not get any rubbing.

Cdm76 did you ever run the 275/65 on stock rims or only on 20x9?
