Cold Air Kit

Hi all. I'm thinking of adding a Cold Air Kit to the truck. I have a quote from a garage to put on a K/N cold air kit for $400 installed + tax.

Is this a good deal?

Does that include reprogramming?

Memory serves, I don't think you need a new tune with the K&N.

Gerry, installation of the CAI is pretty straight forward, might be one of those mods you can do in five to ten minutes in the driveway.

Depends on whether or not they give you an intake tube with the kit.

Five minutes to unbolt the old air filter housing and connect the K&N unit, ten minutes if you have to unbolt the intake tube and swap over the sensor.

Maybe ask what they're charging for the unit and how much is labour and go from there, but sometimes it's just easier to pay someone to do it.

You should retune for most mods to realize the full potential.

Like others have said its not hard to install. Depends on how much of the $400 is installation whether its a good deal.

A 2009 shouldn't "need" a tune for the intake but generally intake and tune go hand in hand.

Well I have a 5-star tune in the truck. I emailed them and they said I don't need to get a new tune from them. I believe they said it would only take 30.min. to install it. I don't know what the price for the kit is, but I would guess it would be at least $350 to $365. As for ease to install, I bet it is not to bad. But I hate the cold and the truck will not fit in the garage safely now with the lift.

I got the quote from Misener Motorsports

For the $40 to not dick around in the cold just pay it and be done.

I think I paid 360plus tax for my K&N intake from a shop in London.
