Meh, if you're going aftermarket, might just as well throw a set of long tube headers on and REALLY wake that puppy up.

I take it that "stuck with getting one from Ford" means you won't be going that route anytime soon. lol

Check Stainless works for headers high flows , might as well keep going and do a nice cat back lol
Sucks to hear , I had mine replaced under my extended warranty thankfully or it would of been a pretty penny

My 2009 4.6L snapped a stud off at about the same milage. Luckily it was under warranty still and ford put whole new manifold aswell as 3 other studs in it that snapped when trying to remove. If it weren't for that I would have been looking for a similar answer. I would say look for headers not just a manifold. I like to hear a truck before you see it. But thats not for everyone.

Here's an example of headers that shouldn't rust: http://m.ebay.com/itm/261729066211?_mwBanner=1

I have ceramic coated shorty's for my Bronco but haven't driven it yet, so I don't know how good they stand up to rust. This may be another route.

well the manifold was nfg, 3 bolts broke and had to extracted, you would think ford would have this problem fixed after all these years

I had two or three passenger side and one drivers side manifolds replaced on my 2006 5.4 From the amount of water that gets splashed in the engine bay from the tires I'm sure a simple rubber or plastic shield would of saved Ford and the consumer a lot of money.
