I've hinted at it for a couple of weeks; figured it was about time I upload and post some pictures of my new ride.
After 6 years and 326,606 kms I figured a reasonable 40th birthday present to myself would be a brand new F150. After a brief visit to Winegard Ford in Caledonia and a couple of phone calls the paperwork was signed and I was the proud new owner of a 2014 FX4 supercrew. I count myself very lucky since it was too late in the year to order the truck I wanted; it took two days but they were able to find me the exact configuration I was looking for.
It's been six weeks and I've put just over 10,000 km on the truck; it really hurts when they're new. I realize that it's probably not a fair comparison, especially since the Ranger served me well for six years but the F150 runs circles around it in terms of being a truck. The funny thing was that I didn't really want a supercrew, I figured the supercab would be sufficient. Thankfully there were only three available in Canada, two black and one red, both of which were no-go for colour. I don't even notice the extra space behind me, and with several backpacks, tool bags, extension cords and other stuff I couldn't be happier that I was converted to the big cab. When it will really shine is in a couple of weeks when four of us head to Alabama for a golf trip.
So far I've done 3M on the hood, window tint, extang tonneau and deezee tailgate assist. I've got t-track rails to install, just waiting a bit before I have it Krowned and get the rails installed.
Maybe now I'll fit in with the rest of the crew at the Horton's meets :-)
