2011-2012 5.0L Defective Heads

Anyone else out there have a 5.0L with the defective heads? If not yet - you soon will. I got 150,000 km. because I pampered my F150 others got 50,000 km. How is that Lowest Cost of Ownership?
When did they change out the heads for the new ones? I know the replacement heads are now almost doubled in price. Thanks Ford Tough

Lowest cost to own is on the 2016 and that's just a guess by KBB (probably a who can line KBBs pockets the best). Unfortunately it is a well known problem in the 5L. $3600 isn't to bad of an expense after 150K KM. Welcome to Ford Tough BTW!

Hijack - 7.3 Top of the tree. I just noticed several people are bragging about how many liters they have. The thread starter may actually have a defective head. We should give them the benefit of a doubt. If they do, then we should take pity and recommend a good psychiatrist. I recommend Dr. Otto Scratchensniff.

No, sounds like OP has problems with both heads, so maybe Dr Scratchensniff could give some couch time and a prescription for Viagra, fix things right up.

If this is such a common problem why shouldn't it have been a recall long ago? I had low cost of ownership for the first year too. Who doesn't? I've lost trust.
What will be the dark secret with the 2016 F150? I don't know of tomany pickups that don't reach at least 250,000 km. Shouldn't we expect more?

Lots to choose from out there as far as other brands go, sounds like you'll be looking elsewhere, good luck, hope you don't get screwed over again by another manufacturer.

You're truck is not dead because of this one little hiccup, it will continue to run once you fix it. You'll have to ask Ford why it's not a recall. Maybe if you call the customer relations center they will help you out. You know, squeaky wheel gets the grease kinda deal.

Like I said low cost of ownership is probably who pays KBB the most.

I don't think that after 5 years and 150K KM that is a bad vehicle, I'll tell you what, I'll come take it off your hands since clearly you should be driving a Prius.
