Hairlike strands hanging from tail pipe.

I noticed a foot long strand of what looked like animal hair hanging out of my exhaust. So I pulled it out and it was about 5 feet long. From what I have read this is some sort of packing in the muffler that has come loose, probably because of rust. It sure isnt hair but it freaked me out at first lol. My truck is a 2010 and I have never had the exhaust system worked on. Can anyone share more information about this?

Sounds like the fiberglass strands they use in glass pack mufflers. Time for a new one before it clogs the exhaust and stops you dead or worse.

I guess it is time for a new muffler. The stock one has lasted 9 years. That's pretty amazing.
