2010 F-150 XLT engine issues.... :-(
I reciently purchased a 2010 F-150 XLT Supercab 4x4 with the 5.4 triton engine... and its already beginning to act up.
Between about 700-1000 RPM, and under a light load (such as pushing up against a curb) the engine starts to "clack or knock" (sorry for the bad description of the noise, but its the best I can think of! ha ha!) It only seems to do it when the engine is brought up to normal operating tempratures, and only in that RPM range (or atleast thats all I can seem to hear so far!).
I've watched videos and read stories of the dreaded cam phasers causing grief in older model F-150's, it doesn't sound nearly as bad as those trucks did, but its definately noticeable! And I thought that Ford had fixed that issue? (I'm not much of a gearhead, so I apologize if I'm wrong!)
Anyways I hope no one else has had this problem, but if you have, or have heard of someone with a 09-10 F-150 5.4 that's had this problem, I would greatly appreciate any help anyone can offer!
I'm a Ford fan to the end! (I've owned a 2006 F-150 4.6, a 2008 Ford Focus, and now onto the 2010 F-150 XLT 5.4) But it bugs a guy to no end when your brand new truck is starting to sound odd! I'm hoping its an easy fix!
Anyways thanks everyone for taking the time to read this!
