2010 F150 - Rust on Rear Bumper

Has anybody ever heard of this.

I was washing my F150 (2010) yesterday and found two rust spots on my rear bumper.... I was shocked to see them since I have only has this truck for two months (pruchased new)

One of the spots was on an inside bend but the other spot was in the middle and looked like a stone chip

Both spots came clean but you know they are going to get worse

I will be going back to Ford but was just wondering if anyone else has had the problem

Wow, I'm glad my wife insisted on the dealers rust protection package (10 yr rust warranty)...... this is the third person with a new 2010 that I have heard of finding rust on the "chrome" bumpers...........

Happens all the time with any manufacturer's vehicles - it's usually caused by rail dust during transport.

Is this covered under the basic warranty?

I have the same issue with my 09 and so does a guy at work. Was at the dealership and told them about this and I guess I havent been the only one. They said they will replace after the winter but I would think when it gets replaced I may have the same problem. To me it looks like a crap chrome job, maybe too thin of a coat?

good reason to avoid chrome!!! that was my thoughts when buying mine as I have seen too many chrome step rails and bumpers rust early. Went for the all black fx2!

Coloured urethane is fine but if it is just a painted steel bumper, it will look worse quicker than chrome as the stone chips will immediately show up the base colour, then turn to rust and bleed.

Also noticed some more rust in around the fog lights and the guy from work has the same thing on his
Maybe a good idea to get the extended rust protection warranty??
