recommended oil/warranty issues

The manual for my truck recommends 5w20, will it void my warranty if I use 5w30??

Weird, my 2010 5.4 calls for 5W20 (according to the manual and my dealer) as does my 2010 Mazda (both dealers use and recommend semi-synthetic), so, it works out great, since I buy my oil in bulk.

IT will only void your warranty if there is problem and it was determined that the use of the thicker fluid caused the problem.

Then the fix would not be covered.

My '09 calls for 5w20. 5.4L. which requires 6.6L of fluid
Also full synethic Mobil 1 is onsale at Canadian Tire.

I sincerely hope that your engine has a long life, but if you may want to rethink using Fram oil filters if that is the case. Start your research here: http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/cms/ , the OEM filter is actually pretty good, but, if you insist on using others, go with Purolator Pure One or Wix.

Oh, BTW, while your truck is still under warranty, if you go in for any engine issues, make sure you do have an OEM filter on it. Internal Ford bulletins have stated to deny engine warranties (internally lubricated parts anyway) if there is anything on it but the OEM filter..... just saying.

Got the Ford maintenance package deal with my Ranger, so they're the only ones who touch the engine. Period. They can't blame me for any warranty issues.

I only open the hood when the breakfast burritos have finished cooking LR

I have a 2010 3v 4.6.

I heard that an engine will wear faster with 5w20, but I dont want warranty issues.

Its true that FRAM filters these days SUCK!!! They are all cardboard. I would use OEM, or Carquest, which are just re badged WIX. Check this study out
