2010 F150 5.4 -Tuners

I'm trying to determine which tuner would suit my needs.I'd like to improve my fuel economy but be able to change tune and increase the power.Let me know what has worked for you or what to stay away from.

Not sure how many tuners are on board for the 2010's..i don't think many have the ability to tune the 6 speed tranny yet..But wouldn't hurt to talk to a few.

From the research I have done on programmers, do not buy a tuner for mileage gains. Some trucks it improves, some it gets worse, most stay the same

VMP and 5-Star tuned no more

Buy a hybrid my truck needs your gas

I don't have the cortex.
but the reg one. 1865. mileage was up a bit. hard to notice alot in the winter.. and with the weather up and down so much.

the throttle response is so much better. and the transmission shifting is way better. I had to put it back to stock cause i was bringing it into the dealership .. and i hated it.

I also run 87 performance tune. didn't notice much difference between the mileageXS tune to 87 performance mpg wise. but drivability was way better.

Ive since added a k&n cai and purchased the K&N tune from superchips.
noticed a slight mileage improvement. not much.

The truck sounds so much better, it's hard not to be on the throttle!!

You have SF3 bud
X3 doesn't come with preprogrammed tunes. only custom tunes.

I'm all for better performance, and have thought about buying a tuner myself, but is the risk of some random dumbass at the dealer entering that into their system really worth it? We're in the 2009+ forum here, so we all have 3 or more years of warranty remaining on the powertrain. ~30HP gain is a fair bit, and it would be nice to have, especially with a CAI and cat-back exhaust to let it breath and sound better. It seems Ford is pretty much against anything and everything you do to modify the vehicle, and it's up to us to prove it it the mod wasn't the cause of any damage.

I'd bet if I had a tuner, all of the sudden my imaginary transfer case problems would become real, and I'd be paying for the repair.

I'm curious if the weird shifting temperment of the 6-speed has improved after a transmission shift adjustment, or if it becomes even more tempermental. I was just out driving and it tried to downshift or something coasting to a stop light and just slammed itself into gear. Very weird.

I've had the dealer do 2-3 updates on my PCM due to "wierd" shifting. slamming into gear when slowing/coasting esspecially. Also when coasting to a stop light 20-30kms/hr and then apply throttle due to light turning green.. Slams into gear.

currently.. Haven't experienced any of these symptoms since adding the tuner.

also they have to prove it was caused by the tuner. Not us proving it wasn't..

Yes my superchips comes with different tunes. some for towing mileage, and performance.

Superchips states the 87 performance tunes come with the most power however you cannot tow more then 5000lbs with it. they have a specific tune to tow more. (to keep engine from denoting) Little less power, and slightly different shifting pattern.. (from when I understand)
