2010 F150 Prepaid Maintenance Package

I'm picking up my new truck on Monday and am going to buy this package so I don't have to pay for the maintenance.Has anyone else bought one of these recently? How much did you pay?I was told it was around $1800 for a 5yr/120km package. How much room is there to deal on these packages?Any horror stories?

I didn't even know Ford had this package...news to me. Is this offered by the specifc dealer you bought from as a service, or is it something driven from Ford of Canada?

It's offered by Ford. You prepay all of your services and get a bit of a discount by doing so.

No shit. What frequency of oil changes do they cover? Only reason I ask is that I was amazed to look in the Owners Manual on my '09 and find out the interval for regular oil changes was every 12,000 km - I could understand that with a full synthetic maybe, but not regular oil.

Just thinking that if the package works out to around $350 to $400 per year (for the five year term), would it be worth it. Really, how much maintenance will there be in the first five years, other than oil changes?

I got the pre-paid maintenance on mine for 6 years/120,000 kilometers. It was about $2,200 and I opted for the 8,000 kilometer (5,000 mile) intervals. I've already had my first oil change and I just signed the work order and grabbed my keys when it was done. I think its a great idea.

I also got the ESP warranty coverage for the same period. I was told it covers basically everything but the tires.

So, I just make my truck payment and put gas in it. I like it.

Its an "ok" deal for people who don't like to think about maintenance and are not particularly concerned about cost, then, these packages offer a good solution. If you do the math and work out the prices, you are not really any further ahead if you pre pay the package (think of the car rental pre pay gas purchase option... you basically have to run the rental car dry of gas to even break even on the savings)...same thing with these maintenance packages.... the oil change intervals are normally 12k km's (you can opt for 8k intervals, but you pay more).... if you want to change your oil more often (maybe you don't put that many km's on your vehicle), but, want to change it due to time lapsed.... you have to pay for it, same with the other items...... they only cover "basic" brake components, etc... if you price out the parts yourself, you will find that you are not much further ahead (if at all), by simply paying for each service yourself. Plus, YOU are in control of when and what parts get used and what location you do it at. If you are vigilant about your maintenance and like to save money when you can, these packages are not worth it, UNLESS you get a substantial discount from the retail price.
I get a military discount on all parts and labor at my local dealer, so, it was a no brainer to turn down the package... I will actually save money. YMMV... LOL

I haven't looked at what each service entails on the F150,but there were 3 different services required on the Windstar that I just sold.Service 1 was a basic oil change, @$99.95.Service #2 was a little more at around $190 and the Service #3 was almost $300.These were at 5000km intervals and just went on and on.Other things to consider are tranny oil changes ,diffs and coolant change.I think its worth it to pay for it up front.

Anybody out there who bought this package and was not happy with it?

Bought my truck in March. Maintainance plan was $1400 for 5yrs. After pricing it out the saving was not a lot. I dont go to a dealer for work that I have to pay for generally as they are out of this world pricing. It is peace of mind for those that dont mind dishing out all the $$ up front. I dont know if I am keeping the truck that long,,,as circumstances do change even if you say you are right now. But I can get all the work done for same or less and I keep the $1400 in my pocket for now.

I did the package as well. It was $2000 for 6 years. I feel like Seadragon - All I have to do is gas it up and never worry about a thing for 6 whole years. To me, well worth the money.
