1996 F250 7.5 EFI 5spd mileage..................

this is the first 460 EFI I've ever run, first tank of fuel calculated.
filled it at the same station and same cut off when pump kicked out.

242km to 60.870 litres. I figured it out to 11.2 mpg.
or 25.2 litres per 100km

I wasn't even sure what to expect. I guess it isn't that bad.
it is a crewcab shortbed 2wd with a ZF 5spd, and 3.55 gears 235/85/16 radials.
I kept the rpms at 2500 and below, some short trips, very little lightly loaded trailer pulling. has 268,###km on it.

i'm just seeing if anybody else has any #s I can compare with .
thanks in advance
cheers James.

My bro-in-law had one. When mileage started dropping, we found the cat was plugged up. We replaced the cat with a section of pipe and all was good. Next time I see him, I'll ask if he remembers the numbers. If inspection is mandatory in your area, some guys used to ram a bar through the cat to clean it out...permanently. That would keep cat inspectors happy. Good reliable motors if they aren't over worked.

Its "Farm" plated so etest was not an issue. when I do the exhaust, not far off as its still original, I might go dual w/o cat(s) or a single 3" with a glasspack muffler. It sounds pretty wimpy the way it is, but doesn't even feel a trailer behind it , lots of pull even at 1500rpm.

It isn't going to get a pile of km put on it, but it will be a year round spare vehicle for the family.

I actually bought it for the cool factory parts on it, but it didn't need much to safety and my brother and dad needed a vehicle to beat around with. I supplied the vehicle(minus the factory Alcoas!) brother licenced, dad insures, I use most so far. I'm the family mechanic so I do all the work and somebody else pays for the parts. only repair since the safety was a pair of rebuilt calipers, left one started sticking.

funny this truck was in BC until 2006. lots of rust, must have been near the salt water

If it hasn't been done already, check the brake line along the frame. They almost always rot where you can't see, between the front fuel tank and the frame. Sounds like a good truck still and also sounds like you have a pretty cool family.

Brake lines were all done just before I bought it, not a pretty job but adequate, and legal.

My parents are very lucky, all their grandkids are within 1 concession of their farm, pretty rare these days. especially when my older sister , younger brother, and myself all work in completely different fields.

too much friction between siblings, so we don't actually have too much contact actually. oops getting off topic here.
