No Muffler '08 5.4L

Cut the muffler off, as I said in a thread I started a couple days ago. Cats are still there, but she's a tad on the loud side. Here's the link to my youtube http://ca.youtube.com/085point4 One vid is before I got the reciprocating saw out, works well as a comparison.

Yeah, some of em are a little perturbed. Particularly when I leave for work at 6:45 am lol. All of my immediate neighbors are family, so at least they just yell instead of filing official complaints. Two houses up or down on either side, it's just regular people

Don't know if I could deal with that kind of noise on a long drive. You must have some understanding people living around you when you fire that up on early mornings.

hahaha Thats the same way I do the exhaust on mine, running 2¼" straight pipe out the side and the stock cats. My previous 2.9Ls were a little too "drone-ish" and sharp (as in setting off car alarms) even with only 2" exhaust, but the current 4.0L is beautifully deep and sounds nice, and doesn't set off alarms. I've heard of guys doing it with the SOHC Ranger 4.0Ls and they've said that they sound like crap straight piped (maybe from the different valve configuration).

As long as the exhaust properly exits the side of the vehicle and you're not always running it at 4000 rpm, its not bad at all and unless you're being a **** the cops won't bother you. I have NEVER once been bothered about the exhaust (even emissions testing [aka Aircare] has never cared, as long as the cats are there). On long trips I just turn the stereo up a touch and you can't even hear the engine anyways.

Besides.... V8s were meant to be loud LR
