cat back exhausts

i just noticed this morning that the factory muffler is rusting at the seem and begining to split so will no longer pass inspection. ive been looking at aftermarket cat back exhaust systems but they all seem to be for trucks with a single cat or do they replace the second cat? ive checked both cats for the a.i.r pipe as discussed in another thread but i dont have oneon either cat now i definatly want to keep one cat but would removing the second cat be a big deal and does anyone know if the aftermarket cat back systems are worth my effort?

I got mine done a year ago on the same truck. Both came out and was replaced with one which the A.I.R. pump was plumbed into. Emission time was a breeze. Was better than factory original.

So instead of doing the whole cat back system why not just put a after market muffler on ???

yea that was my first thought i wasnt even against replacing it with another stock muffler but several people tell me go cat back ill get better economy and power but when looking at cat backs none of them said if it removed the second cat or kept it and being in rust central i figured if i was gonna be working on the exhaust maybe it wouldnt be a bad idea to beat the cancer and replace it all now vrs a peice at a time

I got from the manifold. Mine used to be in the y pipe just before the cat.

Yeah thats the best way to go is a shop, as they have all the stands to hold it in place before they clamp it and weld.
