mean green

well i just got given my fathers old daily driver after he gave up on selling it.
its an 89 f150 2wheel long box regular cab with a carbed roller 302 in it. i spent my weekend pulling the motor out getting it ready for some spare hop up parts i had laying around and a full gasket set ( the think leaked like a sieve)

ill try to get some pics up later with the progress.

the motor already had a ford racing b303 cam and i`m adding a set of ported 1970
302 heads to bump the compression to 9.8:1, a old style torker 289 manifold some tri-y headers and plus an edelbrock 600cfm carb and one inch spacer.

anybody on here running u/d pulleys on one of these motors? are they the same as the mustang parts?
the truck has the factory 5 speed how much abuse will this tranny take?

the goal for this truck is just to have a fun street truck for the warmer months.

trying to make my 07 fast and fun is getting a bit pricey and out of my range of knowledge.

If its the Mazda 5 speed, don't push too hard. The ZF S5-42 and S5-47 are the way to go for torque but don't expect to speed shift them. The 42 represents 420 foot/pounds of torque capability. The 47, as you might expect, is 470 foot/pounds. Otherwise, go with something with torque and speed capabilities.

Yeah that truck doesn't have a lick of rust and that still pretty rare out here. Yeah working outside is hit and miss but the weather is getting better everyday

that colour looks good on the truck, is it a correct colour for that year? looks a lot like a 72 I had a couple years ago.
do you need to pass emissions there?
only way you can get out of emissions test here is with Farm plates.

sharp looking truck with the OEM rims

Thanks!! I don't think it's an original color my uncle had it painted about twelve years ago I love the color though. The paint is starting to show its age but I'll repaint it the same color. My uncle bought it brand new then my dad had it for 5 years. No we don't have emissions here I live on an island with a population of about 8000. The only problem is that we have more RCMP per person than any where else in bc, which is going to make the open header drive to the exauhst shop fun 😝. The rims do look good and I think will look even better with some bigs and littles on them
