Tranny help Thanks

Just a few months ago I snagged a 88 f150 2wd reg cab l/b has a 302 with a.o.d, she has 287,000km on it and as of friday the dec 4th she is now on the road needed a couple same things for cert. Drove it a few times now and I have found at 80km it doesn't want to shift into o.d ? And when slowing down to 60-50km it shifts hard ? Can anyone give me some ideas whats going on thanks. Oh tranny fluid is full, and has a trans cooler, am I gonna have to change out my tranny or just drive the sh*t out of it? Oh 1 last thing what trans would it be ?

if it neutrals into 4th then band is toast. if it just won't go into 4th it sounds to me like it just may be that your tv cable is out of adjustment if your getting clangy shifts too.

Garage
Where the heck is Wallacetown? Too bad it's not a 4x4 and if you lived near me, I'd give you an AOD I have in the shed.

Thanks for the advice there "ronburgundy" I'll see if the t.v cable is out of whack. And Wallacetown is 2 hours west of T.O lol in the country.

either the tv cable or shifter linkage is out of adjustment. I had the same issue when I put an AOD in mine

I'll check the t.v cable first and go from there, if it's right than I guess I'll have to find a video on the shifter adjustment.

or drive 1 1/2hrs and I can show you how to do both correctly. The AOD is a very touchy tranny

Well I adjusted the cable as presay in the video, and now it shifts really hard into 2nd at 50km and really hard into drive at 70km, at 90-100 km it goes into o.d but then shifts right back to drive. The kick down now works but I'd like it to stay in o.d not drive it in drive but won't stay there keeps shifting down as soon as I let off the gas just a little, ANY help be nice. So is the tranny toast ???

Well showed in the video to have no slack in the cable so thats the way I have it, before I adjusted it it had a bunch of slack. If I can't figure it out than I'll change out the tranny come spring when I have cash.
