Brake pad life

My 2010 Ranger now has about 47,000 km on it. Most of those kms are highway driving. On average how many kms have people here gotten out of their original pads?

Cheers!

Provided no mud and grit or warped rotors you should get over 100,00 km.

Such is life. Just passing through.

I do mixed driving as well and I got just over 62000km on my 2007. There was still a little bit of meat left of them, but I didn't want to go into the winter season knowing they had to be done soon.

I decided to use ceramic pads this time, I heard they don't create much brake dust. We'll see if that's true or not.

There are no stupid questions, but there are a LOT of inquisitive idiots.

Hard to say for me. Lost my rotors at 27,000 ( not to mention the one
the dealer replaced at 18,000km). I also has to replace a caliper at 27,000
due to screwed up slides wearing my pads unevenly. *shrugs*

Have heard that brake pads, especially the rears, don't typically last long on the Rangers (2010 and 2011).

It can be different for all pads the manufacturer can give you an idea on how long they will last but at either every oil change or every other one have a look at them.

Just before xmas I had a front set of pads with at least 50-60% pad life left drivers side spit the pad off the backing so it was steel on steel now both sides are new.

Last month, my local Ford dealer said that I have 8mm left on my brake pads. Under 18,000 km on the truck so far. What is the thickness of the brake pads when new typically?
