Well, they made at least one:

Actually it would have been funny if they had actually sold these. But not in a good way. The 5.0 V-8 made 240 HP -- that's only 21 HP less than a modern stock Nissan Frontier with a 4.0 V-6. But maybe back in the day people were more easily impressed?

If Princess Auto were a real girl, I'd ask her to marry me.

Torque figures are WAY different between the V6 Nissan and a V8 Ranger though, and that makes a huge difference. 5.0Ls are very easy to tune as well. I'd kill to have a V8 in my truck, even if it was an anemic 318 like what the Dodge Dakotas got in the day, at least the potential is there! LR

Torque of the Ford 5.0 is listed at 285 ft/lbs. @ 4000 RPM
Nissan's V-6 is 281 ft/lbs. @ 4000 RPM

Just sayin' ...

If Princess Auto were a real girl, I'd ask her to marry me.

Drive the two and you'll see the difference right away the extra two cylinders does do something useful.

..and besides, the Nissans aren't all they say they are either, I've driven the NA and supercharged versions of them. LR

I agree with you. I was just trying to make the point that a decade's worth of difference in technology gets us a vehicle which, bog-standard from the dealer, is *roughly* the equivalent of a super-special one-off, built in a secret laboratory 15 years earlier.

If Princess Auto were a real girl, I'd ask her to marry me.
