Things to look for when buying an older ranger?

Been looking into getting an older ranger, specifically a 1986 XLT. Going to take a second look at it soon, anything i should be looking for or known issues aside from the regular mechanical stuff you would check when buying any used vehicle?

thanks

Not a hole lot to look for, as long as the frame is in good shape and not rusted out. If you can get it at a good price, anything can be fixed or replaced (LMC). Depends on how good of shape its in and how much money you are willing to spend on it!!

I'd check the cab mounts & frame just behind the cab, if you can get a good look check the rad cradle as they then to go bad other than that just look the truck over good in the day light and get as much info as you can.

One thing to check is the frame near the steering box they have a tendincey to crack on the 4x4 f150s and rangers.

the only things holding you back are fear and common sense
