Question Warranty Question Re: 2010 Ranger

I took delivery of my 2010 Ranger on March 4/2010. Noticed yesterday antifreeze leaking out in small drips on the pavement. Mileage is just under 19000 kms. If it is water pump or more serious am I hooped on it being repaired under warranty? Thanks in advance for any insights, advice or responses. Quick Edit Here: No I did not get extended warranty, just whatever it came with from Ford (which I can't remmber).

3 year/60000 km warranty is pretty standard, powertrain is 5 year/100000 km out of the box, I can't see why you wouldn't be covered .

No extended warranty, no big deal IMO. Saved yourself $1500 you would have paid, and never seen again right there.

I guess I thought it was which ever came first, 3 years or 60,000km. So currently the mileage isn't an issue but I'm roughly a week over the 3 year time frame. Thx again for your help.

It is three year or 60000, whichever comes first, but if it's power train , I'd say you're still good.

I was in the same situation as you WRT air conditioning. In my case I had been to the dealer once shortly after I got the vehicle claiming it wasn't right. They checked it and said there was nothing wrong with it.

I took it back at I believe 65,000 km. I said I was certain the ac wasn't working properly. They said they'd look at it and since it was beyond the 60K, depending upon what they found they'd decide who would foot the bill if repair was required.

For warranty purposes they backdated the mileage to 59,000, and changed the condensor at no cost to me.

My guess is you'll have a similar result. In your case the dealer would be completely stupid to nickel and dime you over something like that.

Cheers!

That's nice to hear some good news.

For all the guys out there that complain about "stealerships", there are good ones out there that know how to take care of their customers so they keep coming back.

Within reason of course, if you make stupid demands, you deserve to get shot down.

If I recall correctly, the cooling system isn't covered under the power train warranty.
Best to read the warranty book.

Needs a water pump ..... in all seriousness, the only cooling issues we get on Rangers are slow drips out of the water pump weep hole and the odd P0128 thermostat sticking open slightly.

Water pump is not a big deal - they are in and out of my bay in about an hour.
