What aftermarket deck/head unit?

Seen some CD decks on sale for Boxing Week.

BB has the Kenwood KDC BT855U for $130....has 4V preouts so I can add a subwoofer and amp(s).

FS has the Pioneer DEH X8500BS for $100 ($100 off). Has 4V preouts.

I've always been a Pioneer guy myself, and after fighting with a Kenwood nav unit for a couple of years I'm back in the Pioneer flock with a double-din unit.

I think since most of the features are common between decks, it becomes more of a "Ford" vs. "Chevy" brand preference.

both decks are the same price at either place.

I was a kenwood guy for year or 2. , but switched to pioneer. been pioneer for past 10+ yrs. I found the use-ability of pioneer is just easier. I haven't bought a deck for the past 2 or 3 yrs, but still preferred the pioneers.

Thanks for all the replies.

Right now, I am leaning towards the Kenwood. It's not as flashy as the Pioneer as seen on Youtube. If I was young, flashy would be in....all that flash would give me a headache.

I typically prefer an understated look. If I can tone down the Pioneer, I will definitely consider it more.

Either way, for $100 and change you'll do OK.

I can remember paying $400 to $500 for the Pioneer cassette deck I put in my first car (think late 80's era).

For what you're getting for your head unit dollar these days, times have sure changed, but technology will do that.
