Get a programmer. Lots of other benefits also.

From what I have heard this is one of the best you can get for a Ranger:

I bought one off of Boss 3.0 on RPS a few months back and it is the best bang for your buck in my opinion. I love the fact that you can change so many options on the truck. Haven't really fiddled with a lot of them as of late, but the tunes that I ordered are well worth the money in my opinion.

Overall, the tuner pays off for itself in the long run.
