tire size

My 1999 ford ranger 4x4 has 255 70 r16 tires on it now. I was wondering in 255 75 r16 would fit without rubbing. it seems the only difference between the 2 sizes is the height of the tire. The width is the same.

Hmmm. Checked the calculator on 1010tires and it doesn't show that size in a 16" rim. I triedit with the 15 and 17 it lists and there's a bit of difference between the two! Hope the link works...

i have 265 75 r16 on my 05 4x4 ranger, have had them for a number of years now and have not noticed any rubbing at all but they nicely fill out the wheel wells

255 70 r16s are pretty common on Explorers too, might be easier to find? are you wanting to go with a bigger tire or just found a deal on them?

be carefull with 265/75/16s, I've seen 5 different load ratings on same size tire. got caught on a diesel van I bought wondered why it handles so mushy but all the steering parts were fine, it had a pair of P265/75r16s on it only 35psi rated. perfect for a ranger , useless and dangerous on the front of a diesel 3/4 ton van! they are available in 10ply Erange at 80psi, that's what my diesel van needed.

good luck
