Possible Bent Axle?

Just wondering if anyone has come across troubleshooting a bent axle. I strictly drive my truck on the highway to Fort Mac. and back to Edmonton and for some reason i have an issue with the Left rear wheel assembly. I've already switched tires from front to back and that has not fixed anything. I'm not sure if it is a wheel bearing or maybe something in the Diff. My wheel seal is not leaking and the brakes at the rear axle are fine. If anyone has experienced this problem already please inform me. Thanks

I had a bent axle in my 03 ranger. If you jack up the rear end and then spin the wheels (either by hand or by the motor),you should see the wheel wobbling. Then remove rim and repeat. No wobble = bent rim.Still wobbling = possible bent axle.Hope this helps you narrow down the problem. Also ALWAYS exercise caution when using jacks. And use jack stands. And having an assistant is not a bad thing either. With a cell phone.Play safe.

i ended up with a bent axle on my 93 ranger also. thought it was a rim, because you could see a slight wobble when driven. swapped that rim/tire to the front and it was still there, so new axle and all was good. what exactly are you experiencing? noise? wobble? tire wear? some symptons would help us out.

Bent Axle

Yeah some of the symptoms i had were a very bad shake inside my truck, the steering wheel seemed to not shake at all or not that bad ,so that pretty much eliminated the front end. The center support bearing seemed a little sloppy but I didn't think that would cause the tire to wobble like it is doing.
