Oil Change.....Oil Leak

Well I got an oil change on my '08 Ranger yesterday at the dealership. I was heading out this morning for a run on the bike and notice a small puddle of oil under my truck. So I look underneath and its dripping from the drain plug. I decided not to touch it and took it back the the dealer.

They put it up on the hoist and checked it out. "Of course" it was tight. So I said, is it cross-threaded? Then they showed it to me. It wasn't. The funny thing is, the plug looked kind of new...(maybe just my imagination) LOL.

Anyway, they changed the oil again, cleaned up the pan around the plug and said keep an eye on it.

I am glad I noticed it, because I am driving to Prince Edward Island in tomorrow.

Next time I will check it when I leave.

I just went through the same thing with my '97. Needed to replace the plug washer. The metal one that was used had enough. Bought a new bolt/washer and it's all good now.

Gotta love the small, simple fixes when you get 'em.

Good luck and enjoy your trip! Take pics!

New drain plug will fix the problem. I had that problem in my tempo. The bloody thing leaked a couple liters of oil on my dads driveway over night

VMP and 5-Star tuned no more

Probably not even so much of a problem with the bolt as it is the washer/gasket. They don't last all that long and should be replaced occasionally. LR
