'89 Ranger 2.9l - blower motor is ticking me off

The blower motor on my '89 Ranger is really beginning to tick me off. It needs coaxing (hit it) for it to start up after the truck is started. I have replaced the brushes and it is visually in good shape.

Is this a Ranger problem? Any suggestions?

Yes. It does not matter what speed the switch is on when I shut the truck off. When the truck is restarted minutes or hours later, the blower may or may not engage.

Replace the blower motor. Our 5 ton truck at work had this problem..heater would work and then not...didn't matter where the switch was...mechanic replaced the motor and all is good now.

Do you recommend any source? Ford? LMC? After market?

We went aftermarket with the 5 ton..can't remember which brand tho..when the mechanic pulled the old motor out, he could wiggle the shaft that goes into the motor quite a bit.
