Arrow Programmers Ford Ranger

I made a post awhile back asking about re-programmers and if anyone has done it or knows about it.
I just find it hard to believe that no one has done this to their Ranger. So time to take a poll.

How many have re-programmed their Ranger? And why (what make and model of programmer did you use) or why not

people I would like to read some posts here, if your not re-programming do to cost they say so, if its because you heard of someone screwing up their truck doing this they say so. I'm trying to get as much info as I can before going out and spending $500+

I don't have one but would be interested in one to mainly improve the auto trans and improve gas mileage... I don't have one because there doesn't seem to be much GOOD info about them available beyond someone posting and saying I have xxxx and it's great. As well I'm wondering about it impacting my 7yr/160,000km full warranty?

My warranty is what I'm concerned about as well. I have a pretty generous list of upgrades I plan on doing to the truck eventually, and chipping it is on the list. IIRC, my powertrain warranty is 100,000 km of which I'm half done, and I've heard that bumping it up at all voids it. Its not the engine so much that I'm worried about, but more the auto behind it - too many horror stories floating around with the 5R55Es and blowing seals/solenoids. Knowing what a teardown and rebuild costs, I don't want to be on the hook for it if possible! LR

Most tuner's you can return the truck back to stock.
The dealer can only void your warranty/ part of warranty if they can prove the aftermarket changes you did to the truck caused the problems. If there isn't any aftermarket changes, they have nothing to blame it on.

I have to agree with Viper238 on this, the new programmers today you can change the program back to stock/factory setting if you have to take your truck in for service. Then change it back once service is completed and get your power and mileage back.

as a dealer tech i hate to inform you guys that i have ways of detecting if a programmer was prev installed,i've been running one on all my trucks since 1997 and had no problems as long as you don't go right stupid with the programming and lighten up the preset shift press on the tuners should be ok.
