Doggie platform....2010 Ranger XL

I recently built this platform to go behind the front seats on my 4 door as my old dog was having trouble getting back and forth over the arm rest. On long trips he was also out of sight and isolated from us. It only took a few hours. I made a cardboard template first. It sits on the jump seats which are in the down position. I placed a couple of shims underneath to make it level. I made it out of 1/2 inch plywood covered with indoor-outdoor carpet. Total cost $20.00 as I had the piece of plywood on hand.

Excellent! I made one very similar in the fall for mu 09. I use mine with the jump seats folded down but not opened. Its a bit taller that way, but even though our dog is a long leg Jack Russell he still is pretty short.

I ended up covering mine with some black fabric to match the jump seats, which I regretted as soon as the white dog jumped in. Like you it was made with just extras around the garage, but very handy!

That's a nice project. I think this would be useful even for someone without a dog. Looks like you've got a little space underneath to hide a few items, too.

If Princess Auto were a real girl, I'd ask her to marry me.

Yup, definitely. I've considered doing it with mine (I'll probably just build a whole storage box in mine considering that the cab's stripped bare behind the seats, no jump seats or jack holder currently - just two storage totes and an air compressor for the airbags, want to make it one complete storage unit) but just haven't gotten around to it yet. Great idea too for the dog in the back, much safer and easier on it than stumbling around over the jump seats. Good project! LR

The platform also gives me a storage area underneath which is not visible for someone looking in from outside. It is perfect for a few of my rifles when heading to the range to shoot. I do have a photo of the template with all of the measurements on it which I can post if anyone is interested. Dave
