Tonneau

Hey I'm in the process of buying a new 2010 Ranger sport from a dealer, The september incentives on the sport in ontario are great. Basically I've found the one I want at the dealer with the proper configuration, and wasnt given any breaks on price, I went onto car cost canada and see there is a bit of a difference so im going to try and get a few bucks off the hard tonneau cover.

My question is, does anyone know who the manufacturer is of the specific hard tonneau cover they sell as an option with the ford rangers. You can see the picture of it online under the right side exterior options drop down. It looks like the BakFlip G2 or something along those lines.

I'm pretty sure that's a Bakflip. They want almost $1100 for it, now?! If you really had your heart set on a Bakflip, I think you could probably get one for a few hundred cheaper after-market. They're a bargain -- at half the price.

I'd be happy to sell you my 3-year-old one for cheap, if you don't mind it sagging a bit and leaking like a sieve. Personally, I wouldn't touch it with a ten-foot-pole, unless they've made some drastic improvements in quality.

Edit: I just checked and there's a Canadian website in Ottawa selling Diamondback SE solid aluminum deckplate(!!!) folding covers for CAD$1099.

Man, if I had known about that 3 years ago ...

If Princess Auto were a real girl, I'd ask her to marry me.

Order one up stateside. Have it shipped UPS or Fed Ex to one of their border outlets. Take a friend and drive across the border. Install it. Stay 48 hours. If it comes in at less than $800, bring it back duty free.

While you're there buy a tank of gas. Way cheaper.

Cheers!
