Dome Light Issues

A buddy I work with has an '03 Supercab Edge that the dome light won't shut off when the door is closed. We've soaked the 4 main door latches with penetrating oil several times, still can't get the light to do out. Should we start looking at something else?

you could have wiring isues in sill panel,or a door ajar switch issue, with the key in the ign does the warning chime come on constant?if it does check drivers door switch.

a moments silence for the shelbyx,i hope her new owner enjoys as much.

The warning chime doesn't chime constant, the light just stays on for 10 minutes each time the door is opened and goes out if you start the truck.

Just a quick question on it, but is he unlocking the door with the remote unlock every time (whether or not its locked, just by habit or whatever)? I know if I hit the remote unlock my lights will stay on pretty much until the truck's started, even if he isn't it might be an issue with the electronics that governs that.

I haven't had much chance to dive too deeply into the newer Rangers yet, so I'm sorry if I don't have an answer beyond my question. LR

No remote, he bought the truck with 300K on it about 6months ago, beyond A/C & 4.0L has no other options on it.

sounds like a bad door switch (but not drivers side)best way would be monitor door ajar pids with a scan tool, other than that you would have to remove door panels and jumper switch connection.

Until you figure it out, when you drive at night you could simply take out the bulb.
