Post Vibration

My friend has a 2005 Ranger 4x4 4.0L and has a vibration at 85-90km, we pulled the drive shaft and found the front u-joint had a tight spot in it, so we replaced that and re test still vibration. So then we sent the shaft to get balanced and was out, re tested still vibration, re balanced all tires still vibration looking to see if anyone esle has had this same problem or have any ideas thanks

Have you checked to see if he doesn't have a stickie caliper or a bent rotor ? A bent rotor will cause a vibration, does the steering wheel shake ? can you kinda tell is it coming from the front or back ?

Also ...

- wheel bearings?
- ball joints?
- alignment?
- bent chassis or suspension components?
- bent or damaged rim? (you can still balance a defective rim)
- defective tire (ply or tread delamination?)
- buggered engine mount?

Did I leave any out? Probably ...

i had an 06 dodge 2500 dsl 4x4 with a vibration starting soft from 80 and right ignorant from 114kms-122kms, dealer replaced rear ujoint on rear driveshaft, and right outer on the front axle shaft. we replaced left front, and the shaft had been balanced during the diagnostic. we also road force balanced the tires to see if there was a shifted belt, nothing. we gave it to the shooter diagnostic tech at a different dodge dealer that the first and about a week later he said he pull the rear driveshaft and drove it on the front drive components and it went away, so he gave it back and said the rear driveshaft was coming apart internaly; one of those foam filled ones.

i would reccomend to you to check first for a shifted belt in the tires and then ether drive it without the rear driveshaft (not too hard though) and see if it disappears.

Thanks to all for the replys. So we pulled the front drive shaft and found the u-joint had a bad spot in it but before we put it back in took it for a drive and vibration still there. Talk to another person that has an 06 ranger 4x4 with the same problem and has been to ford dealership and still can't seem to find the problem, does anyone esle have this problem?? Thanks

How about axle spring bushings, u-bolts or pinion bearing? Jack the rear end off the floor and secure the truck and then see if the vibration is still there. Tranny mount? Hanger bearing? If it has one. Transfer case bearing on the rear output shaft?

I think you're just trying to see how many parts you can list in one response!!

Not quite! Any one of these could be an issue. If I wanted to list random parts, I'd mention laughing nuts and giggling pins.
